Julia Cutler is an experienced, highly educated, interior design professional whose sophisticated and creative vision integrates simple, elegant and timeless designs balanced with both traditional and modern forms, tailored to reflect the client's individual lifestyle.
Julia grew up with a love for color, fabrics and beautiful objects. The creative process for her begins with a color, a piece of fabric, or even an object that elicits a response from the client. From that, she builds a scheme, layer upon layer, inspired by combining elements that create a balanced and unified whole that is ultimately a reflection of the client. Each element that makes up the design concept is fundamental, working in unison to bring about the desired result conceived by both designer and client.
Julia’s background features outstanding academic preparation with a BA in Romance Languages from Mount Holyoke College and an MS in Interior Design from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After ten years of apprenticeship with two prominent Boston design firms, she launched Julia Cutler, Interior Design. In addition to her residential and condo projects in Boston, the Cape and the Islands, she travels extensively working on projects in San Francisco, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, Vail, CO, Naples, FL, Oahu, HI and Osaka, Japan. Julia Cutler is an Allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
Services Offered
Specializing in residential interiors allows Julia the opportunity to work one on one with clients. By listening closely to her clients, Julia's focus is to uncover their personal preferences and needs so that she may create a unique aesthetic and functional concept for each. It is her goal to create beautiful homes characterized by a thoughtful and balanced cohesion of design elements.
Julia offers full service project management and consultation for any size project: new design, renovation, or updating the look of an existing room. She has long-standing relationships with architects, contractors, sub-contractors, cabinet makers and artisans to help complete any size project. Julia will also collaborate with the client’s architect and design team to ensure integration of architectural and interior design elements.
Julia oversees all phases of the design project from conception to completion including initial concept development and programming; space planning and furniture layout; project management; turnkey installations of loose furnishings, fine art and accessories. Julia is also available for hourly consultations (i.e. color palette and finish selections, recovering/updating existing pieces, furniture placement, window treatments, art/accessory shopping).
