After a successful 12-year career as a management consultant, culminating in the creation of the first teaching nursing home in Connecticut, Melissa Kradas returned to school to pursue her first love, interior design.
Subsequent experience in kitchen design, commercial design, and retail home furnishings prompted Melissa to open her own full-service decorating firm in 1983, and an interactive kitchen showroom in 2004.
In addition to being the owner and principal designer of Personal Style, Melissa has had her own syndicated newspaper column; been a Rich Maid Kabinetry dealer; taught two interior design courses; and lectured throughout Connecticut.
The name of the firm, Personal Style, illustrates her philosophy that interior design should reflect each client’s own unique personality. Melissa is very approachable and likes to have fun with her clients. Many have gone on to become life-long friends. She has recently relocated to the south shore of Massachusetts.
Services Offered
For over 20 years, Personal Style has offered full residential and contract design services in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Recently, Melissa has also become a virtual designer with a website geared to answering simple design questions via email and Skype.
In addition to the creation of innovative and dramatic residential and office interiors, Melissa and her staff specialize in color consultations, window treatments, kitchen & bath design, custom cabinetry, life-care facilities, aging in the home, and award-winning hair salons. Melissa likes to stretch her imagination with ingenious creations like stainless-steel window treatments, glass walls, and motorized cabinetry.

Melissa is a veteran of 7 designer showhouses, and her work has been published in the Ultimate Decorating Book, UrbanStyle, Decorator Show Houses, and Today’s Salon. She has also won a Today's Salon award for one of her hair salons.
